How to Cook Salmon on the Grill:
- Ensure salmon is fully thawed
- Rub side without skin with olive oil and cajun seasoning blend
- Place skin side down on grill preheated to a medium high heat (around 350-400 degrees F)
- A four ounce piece of salmon will take around 6-8 minutes to cook depending on thickness of fillet
- In a saucepan, you add the ingredients and simmer to make the glaze
- About 2 minutes before salmon is fully cooked brush with the orange glaze sauce and let heat through
More Pro Tips for Making Salmon:
- there’s no need to remove the skin from the salmon fillets before grilling, leaving them on will help hold the salmon together and they will remove easily after they are cooked
- use a meat thermometer to check the temperature of the salmon to ensure it doesn’t get overcooked, I prefer salmon cooked to 145 degrees F
Why Sockeye Salmon?
Sockeye salmon is a wild salmon with a darker almost reddish color flesh. It’s a bit heartier than other varieties and holds up well to grilling and can have a bit stronger flavor.
