I’ll share a few tricks to getting the best tasting grilled asparagus!
Ingredients you’ll need
- fresh asparagus
- olive oil
- lemon pepper seasoning
- precooked bacon
How to prepare asparagus for grilling
- remove the tough end of the asparagus by taking one stalk and bending until it snaps – this will guide where to slice the ends off for the rest of the bunch
- toss with olive oil and seasoning
- wrap with a small piece of bacon
- place on preheated grill – use a grill pan if desired to keep them from falling through the grates
- carefully turn a few times as the bundles cook to keep them from burning
How to choose asparagus
I like to choose asparagus that is thin to ensure it will be tender. Additionally make sure that the asparagus is still very crispy and the end will snap off easily to ensure it’s fresh
More Tips
- using precooked bacon will ensure that you asparagus will not burn before the bacon becomes crisp
- leftover asparagus does not reheat well but feel free to chop up and add to salads
