Did you know that you are only 5 ingredients away from a tasty summer side dish? This spicy coleslaw is a refreshing change of pace for those hot summer meals!
Homemade coleslaw is easier to make than you think! The sauce for this slaw requires only 4 ingredients added to a bag of chopped cabbage.
This is the side dish you’ll make again and again to go along with all your favorite grill recipes like Cajun Chicken Sandwiches or even Grilled Chicken Drumsticks!
Ingredients for Spicy Coleslaw
- bagged chopped coleslaw mix (I prefer it with carrots but you could also use angel hair chopped cabbage)
- mayo (Use avocado oil mayo like Primal Kitchens for a healthier choice)
- apple cider vinegar
- honey
- hot sauce (like Cholula)
Tips for Making Coleslaw
- make ahead by at least an hour to let flavors melt and soak into cabbage
- can make a day in advance and store in fridge
- leftovers can be stored in airtight container in fridge up to 3 days
- mix all sauce ingredients together first then pour over cabbage to more easily mix
- want to change it up? Leave out the hot sauce for a regular creamy coleslaw
- try my apple slaw for another variety
- chop your own cabbage if desired and feel free to add shredded carrots or onions to the mix
- add fresh chopped herbs for some variety
